Match Preview : UFEA - Chelsea vs Bayer Leverkusen

Chelsea will host Bayer Leverkusen in the first Group E match of the UEFA Champions League on 13th September 2011 at 2.45pm EST and it will be live from Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea

Chelsea have made a marvelous start to the campaign by winning all their matches in the Premier League, some comprehensively and some not however a win is still a win. Chelsea have never won the UEFA Champions League trophy, the last time when they came near was when they met Manchester United in an all English final at Moscow but lost in penalties. Will this season be Chelsea's turn and finally lift the trophy? Let us see. First of all, Chelsea have to clear the group stages then think of winning. Chelsea look very much forward to this match against the German side and they hope to go with all guns blazing hence getting the three points but they also know that it will not be easy even if they are playing at home. The new fresh midfielder bought from their bitter rivals Liverpool Raul Meireles will be hoping to play his first UEFA Champions League game since joining to an English side. The new striker Romeu Lukaku bought from Anderlacht will also be hoping to make his debut for Chelsea.

Bayer Leverkusen

It will be a very emotional return for the former Chelsea player Michael Ballack who spent four successful years with them and won the Premier League and Carling Cup crown during his time there. Michael Ballack said, it is going to be a very special return for me. In his time, Ballack won a premier league medal, three FA Cup victories and a Carling Cup medal. He was also part of the team when agonizingly lost the UEFA Champions League medal in penalties. Ballack also quoted " "I was very happy. For me the draw could hardly have been any better. I am looking forward to travelling there again, to playing there. Emotionally this will certainly be a special match for me." Source acquired from uefa.com.

Chelsea fans will be impatiently looking forward to see Ballack once again on Stamford Bridge's soil and truly indeed it is going to be a sentimental return for the German Player.
