Stoke City host Liverpool at the Britannia Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The home side made some impressive signings on deadline day. The Potters brought in England striker Peter Crouch and Honduran midfielder Wilson Palacios from Tottenham for close to £20million.

Stoke also secured the signing of Birmingham striker Cameron Jerome for a fee of £4million. The three signings have strengthened an already strong Stoke squad. And the club are hopeful of challenging for the European spots this season.

They have made a promising start to the season and are strong at home. However that home form will be tested by the visit of in-form Liverpool. The visitors are currently third in the Premier League table, after winning two and drawing one of their opening Premier League games.

Stoke made some great signings at the end of the deadline by grabbing the services of the Tottenham midfielder Wilson Palacios, the talented striker Cameron Jerome from the relegated Birmingham City and the most shocking was the former Liverpool man Peter Crouch on a permanent deal. Yes even though he was playing for Tottenham last season, but Crouch still used to play for Liverpool three to four seasons ago.

The Reds are looking good under Kenny Dalglish and are hoping to secure a place in the Champions League next season, by finishing in the top four of the Premier League. In their current form they look likely to achieve their objectives.

Their squad will boosted by the return of striker Craig Bellamy from Manchester City. The Striker arrived on a season-long loan deal on transfer deadline day. He is likely to make his debut in this clash.

Stoke’s new arrivals are also likely to be thrown in for their first appearances in this clash. Peter Crouch is expected to start up front with Wilson Palacios set to start in the heart of the midfield for the Potters.

Liverpool has to be favourites for this clash, due to their recent good form. However Stoke are no pushovers and it won’t be an easy game for the Merseysider’s. Stay tuned to see all the action here.

This has made Stoke City a very competitive team compared to last season and Liverpool should really not mess around. Liverpool won their last game at Anfield very comfortably while Stoke struggled in their last match against West Brom which led to 1-1 draw thus forcing the Stoke manager Tony Pulis to do some major signings at the end which he did that very well.

Stoke will be hosting Liverpool at the Brittania Stadium on Saturday 10th August 2011 at 10.00 am GMT Live. It will be a great match to watch and i don't know i feel that Stoke will create a massive upset against the resurrecting Liverpool team under Kenny Dalgish.
